Bopinc is a Dutch not-for-profit that accelerates the impact of market-driven and innovative business models in low-income markets. We support our clients in making their businesses more viable and inclusive by including people at the Base of the Pyramid as consumers, producers and entrepreneurs in the supply chain. Bopinc works with a wide variety of start-ups, SMEs and multinational companies to achieve this. Over the past ten years we have worked with more than 1,000 companies, reaching more than 5 million low-income consumers, while creating better income opportunities for over 120,000 low-income entrepreneurs.

The Role
Bopinc is looking for a seasoned business advisor to deliver entrepreneurship training and mentorship support in our flagship e-waste project, in close collaboration with Bopinc’s team members in Kenya and the Netherlands.
The project aims to help young women and men, with and without disabilities, to successfully start, sustain or grow their income generating businesses as repairers or collectors of e-waste.

Responsibilities
Independently manage specific project implementation tasks and workstreams as you report to the Project Manager.
Conduct needs assessments among clusters of micro-enterprises and their partners, including SMEs, and suggest priority areas for business advisory.
Tailor our business support curriculum and approach to the context and needs of entrepreneurs.
Coordinate the delivery of offline group-based training sessions and facilitate discussions between participants.
Deliver practical coaching to individual companies by presenting inspirational case studies and evidence-based approaches tried elsewhere.
Scope for new market opportunities that micro-enterprises can tap into and pro-actively engage private and public sector players offering these opportunities.
Capture and document insights and lessons-learned as input for our public learning publications.

Qualifications
Bachelor or Master’s degree or equivalent in business administration, innovation management, economics or other relevant fields.
At least 5 years relevant and first-hand experience with business advisory support for self-employed entrepreneurs, micro-enterprises (with less than 10 staff members) and SMEs.
Demonstrated track record showing direct contributions to the growth of MSMEs through advisory support.
Understanding of the business growth challenges and compliance issues that micro-entrepreneurs face, preferably in the waste sector in Kenya.
Ability to think-outside-the-box and research and experiment with new business approaches and partnerships using lean approaches.
Experience developing curriculum/content on inclusive business topics for micro-entrepreneurs, business leaders and other stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English including ability to write clear, concise and structured reports and facilitate workshops, present to clients and external audiences and influence others.
Experience with developing and delivering visually appealing presentations, and moderating events with 20+ people.
Ability and willingness to regularly travel to areas outside Nairobi.
