The Role

Are you a data-driven, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) professional who is eager to measure the impact of private sector development projects?

As Impact Measurement Specialist, you will support the Impact Measurement Manager to implement MEL work across our project portfolio and contribute to organisational impact measurement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Leading monitoring, evaluation and learning activities within projects, including developing MEL frameworks for projects, overseeing and executing MEL activities

  • Supporting the Impact Measurement (IM) Manager in the measuring of outputs, outcomes and impacts of Bopinc’s work, analysing and making strategic recommendations to leadership and maintaining and updating Bopinc’s Theory of Change (ToC)

  • Implementing Bopinc’s learning agenda by facilitating internal sharing and learning sessions, also in projects

  • Supporting IM Manager to communicate about impact and learning at Bopinc and co-creating content with the Communications team, print/audio/visual

Qualifications

  • Established professional with min. 3-5 years of work experience in social impact measurement, MEL (monitoring, evaluation & learning), or a related field

  • Bachelor or (preferably) Masters degree in international development studies, economics or other behavioural or social science.

  • Demonstrated experience with data collection (including paper-based and mobile data collection), management and analysis. Experience designing and maintaining dashboards is a plus.

  • Experience designing and maintaining Power-BI and other dashboards is essential.

  • Knowledge of and experience with several impact measurement frameworks and standards such as the Results Framework, IRIS+, IMP impact dimensions, OECD DAC criteria, etc. Understanding of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) as pertains to market research and evaluation.

  • Expertise in developing qualitative and quantitative (survey) research designs, and designing, implementing and managing impact evaluation and learning trajectories at project, programme and organisational level.

  • Pro-active and independent worker

  • Strong communication, writing and training skills in English, including experience writing research and evaluation reports, articles or blog posts.

  • Experience in facilitating workshops (Sensemaking Workshop, After Action Review, etc.)

  • Experience working in private sector development projects in one of our focus markets (Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Bangladesh) and/or sectors (Food and agriculture, renewable energy, waste).
