Assignment 1 (for an IPD student):
Design of a cold storage service for potato farmers in Bangladesh
Many potatoes are lost after harvest due to poor handling, transport and most importantly, the lack of cold stores. We are working with a Dutch ventilation tech company and a group of farmers in Bangladesh. All it needs it a great product service system, perfectly adapted to local customs, to make this a feasible and commercially viable business to run.
You will develop a frugal PSS for a multi-stakeholder environment, which will be piloted in rural Bangladesh in 2016.
Assignment 2 (for a DfI student):
Design of digital tech solutions for behavior change in Kenya
While there are many solutions out there that provide low-income households with better access to water, sanitation and energy, many fail to scale due to behavior change barriers. We are looking into digital technologies, from mobile phones to wearables, and how they can increase the demand and actual usage of these kind of products and services.
You will research the impact of digital technologies and co-create a disruptive concept for sustained behavior change.
